The Interdisciplinary Emphasis on AI and Human Values requires

  1. Completion of five units as follows:

    1. One computing course drawn from: ARTS 288; CSCI 110; CSCI 111; DATA 160

    2. One ethical theories course drawn from: BIOE292; PHIL 250; PHIL 285; PHIL 292; PG104; REL 265; REL 292

    3. Three AI electives drawn from: ARTS 289; CONN 341; CSCI 470; DATA 260; NRSC 450; NRSC 490; PG 399; PHIL 230; PHIL 286; PHIL 340; PHIL 386

  2. Submission of a brief statement of learning goals following the declaration of the emphasis and a statement reflecting on the fulfillment of those learning goals during senior year.

Notes:

  • Upon declaring the emphasis, students should meet with the director of the Emphasis to prepare a plan to complete the emphasis and complement their course work with internships, research projects, etc.

  • Students must earn a grade point average of at least 2.00 in all courses.

  • Students must take at least 3 of the 5 courses at Puget Sound.

  • The emphasis includes both CONN and KNOW courses. These courses will fulfill both their CONN/KNOW designations as well as emphasis requirements. Students may also satisfy the different Division requirements through the courses that count for the emphasis.
